About Louis Sognot
Louis Sognot (1892–1970) was a prominent French furniture and interior designer whose work spanned Art Deco, modernism, and beyond. He moved fluidly between industrial materials — tubular steel, wood, and glass — and more organic approaches, becoming known later in his career for pioneering the use of rattan, bamboo, and natural fibers in refined mid-century interiors. A co-founder of the UAM (Union des Artistes Modernes), his work bridges the rationalist spirit of the interwar period with the warmth of postwar French design.
