About Pierre Jeanneret
Pierre Jeanneret (1896–1967) was a Swiss architect and designer, and the cousin and longtime collaborator of Le Corbusier. From 1951 to 1965, he served as Chief Architect of Chandigarh — the planned city commissioned by India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru — where he designed thousands of pieces of furniture for its government buildings, courts, and universities. His Chandigarh furniture, produced in teak and cane by local craftsmen, has become among the most sought-after mid-century design in the world.
