About James Hayward

James Hayward (born 1943) is a Los Angeles-based painter known for his rigorous, process-driven approach to abstraction. Working primarily in oil, Hayward builds up dense, tactile surfaces through repeated application and removal of paint — a practice rooted in the physical and philosophical limits of the medium. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in significant private and public collections.
