About Phil Sims

Phil Sims (1940–2021) was an American painter associated with Radical Painting — a movement that stripped painting back to its most essential elements: color, surface, and light. Working primarily in monochrome, Sims built up luminous fields of pigment through slow, meditative layering, creating works of quiet intensity. His paintings are held in major private and institutional collections in the United States and Europe.
